Default Resources like Rosetta Stone

Hi everyone! I just joined this group. I'm very interested in learning Latin; in fact I bought the Rosetta Stone program, although I've misplaced it.

Does anyone have a list or suggestions of books that would help me learn this extremely difficult language? I'm having a lot of problems with masculine and feminine and all the tenses. I don't understand this in English so why I ever thought I would understand Latin is beyond me.

Is there a good electronic translator? I used to have a English/Spanish translator and used it and was humiliated by using a word the translator said was correct but nobody ever really uses that word. I looked very stupid (I asked somewhere where "el patron" was and everyone uses "el jefe" instead. I really don't want to go through that again.

I'm at the very beginning. I can't seem to progress beyond a few words and I don't know if I'm pronouncing them correctly.

I know you've all heard this little poem, but I'm going to repeat it because it is how I feel:

Latin is a language
as dead as it can be;
first it killed the Romans,
and now it's killing me.

God's love to all!

Hi! Wheelock's Latin is a good textbook.

Is there a good electronic translator? ...no...but that goes for all languages

Think of masculine, feminine, and neuter nouns kind of like how we use both "a" and "an" in English. It's really just a grammatical thing.

Latina lingua est
mortissima
Prima Romani necabat
Et nunc me necat

doesn't quite have the same punch....
