Default Should I wear my crucifix all the time?

I just want to know whether should I wear my crucifix all the time (while exercising, bathing, and sleeping)? I've worn mine for about three months already; I have yet to take it off since the first time I put it on. But now it seems that my silver crucifix is darkening. When I asked my other Catholic friends, they told me that I should take it off before exercising and bathing to prevent it to become wet. So do those who wear silver crucifixes take off their crucifixes sometimes?

You're free to wear your crucifix all the time if you wish. Most people don't, since the crucifix can be damaged during certain activities (as you are discovering), but you are not required to take it off. If the crucifix is made of silver, you might want to try silver polish on it to reverse the tarnishing.
