Default should my wife work?

have been married for 18 years. for the past 10 years, my wife hasn't worked. before that, she had a very good job.

until a few months ago, i had a very good job. now, i'm making a fraction of what i used to make. things may get better in time, but i'm not sure that they will.

we have severely depleted our savings. i worry that we will become flat broke.

our kids are 14, 12, and 9.

we live in a modest ($150K) home. we drive used cars. we have no toys. we rarely travel. our kids attend catholic school, but it's not hugely expensive.

for years, i've been glad that my wife did not have to work. it was important to me that she stay home with the kids.

is it wrong for me to think that maybe she should return to work? don't know what to do.
