Default how to ...appropriately address attacks on my faith

I wish to learn how to appropriately address attacks on my faith. I was recently told by a protestant that Catholics are antibiblical, and that unless we repent and be born again we will go to hell. I went to Catholic schools so I told them what I knew about the History and Preservation of the scriptures, The Catholic Church preserved the scripture they use to say we are heretics. How do I dumb down the history of the bible and the church, so I can better explain this.
Hi Rb!

Well most of us have had that happen to us somewhere along the line. It's not true and can be proved consistently so long as the opponent is around and willing to give ear to the responses. Sadly, yours sounds one of the closed channel types that may not be interested in the facts. That is how I got into apologetics and ultimately reverted to the faith. My Testimony.

I have found that the Catholic faith is anything but anti-Biblical (or unscriptural). There is a scriptural basis for everything that the Church teaches. A simple glance through the footnotes of the Catechism of the Catholic Church will readily show that.

Being Born Again is not a problem for Catholics as it is part and parcel of our most holy faith. How Is A Catholic Saved?
"I Find No Sacraments In the Bible" he said. and Who REALLY Preaches "A Different Gospel"?

"Dumbing down" the historical facts is not easy, but one of the best sources I have found is the San Juan Catholic Seminars series. I think every Catholic should have at least the very first book, though the whole series is a bargain.

I also highly recommend John Martignoni's Bible Christian Society materials. His CDs and MP3s are blessed tools for faith sharing.

The Divine Mercy Chaplet has proved to be an invaluable prayer weapon against all that errant propaganda.

Just let us know if you need anything else at all.

Oh and....Welcome to the trenches!

As some of the earliest Catholic martyrs also found out in a very real way.

Sometimes it is easier to allow the attacker to put his/her own foot in their mouth. This said, and we all know how much attackers want to provide answers, simply ask the person to demonstrate, historically, with sources, where their particular denomination came from and how it created the bible. It is impossible for them to demonstrate this, unless, they want to take the whole Jesus appeared invisibly to me, or someone I know, etc. This though can be dealt with false prophets. It is always important not to come across as attacking the attacker, but as one who is wanting to lovingly share information.

Catholics are totally biblical! The Mass is taken from the book of Revelation! The readings in the Mass are from, yup, the Bible - Old AND New Testaments! We quote Jesus' words at the last supper during the Liturgy of the Eucharist - Consecration! We pray the psalms between the Readings from Scripture. Our songs are based on Scripture verses...I mean, I can go on and on.........!
