Default My VERY strange cat.

A year or so ago, this small black cat showed up at my house. It would try to sneak in and eat my other cat's food. It seemed harmless enough and my cat didn't fight with it at all. After a few weeks it allowed me to pet it, pick it up, etc.
For the obvious reasons, I assumed this cat was female but had a hard time discerning if it had been "fixed".
I finally took it to my vet for an exam, shots, etc. and was told it should be neutered. I agreed and took her back the next day for the surgery.

The vet called and told me the cat was a hermaphrodite...which I didn't think was even possible, but apparently it is. They "removed" the undescended testicles (which were deformed according to the vet) and left the remainder of it's assorted other "parts" intact...although none were functional. Very strange to say the least.

The bizarre thing is that since the surgery, this cat is acting extremely bizarre...almost like it's "brain dead' or something. It just isn't "right".
Whatever they did to it has renedered it almost "retarded" (for lack of a better word.) It sits out in the pouring rain and I have to drag it inside so it won't get sick. It;s almost as if it has NO common sense anymore.

It tries to drink out of the toilet and falls IN every single time...like it hasn't figured out that it shouldn't DO that. It no longer "knows" to nudge a door open with it's head when it wants out or to go into another room. It sits there and howls until I open the door for it...THEN it will go through the doorway.

It now walks right in front of me and I trip over it constantly...it doesn't have the sense to get out of the way. It leaps up onto furniture w/o even looking to see that there's a place for it to "land" once it's up there, and consequently knocks things down, etc.

If I'm sitting in a chair watching TV or at the computer, it will suddenly leap right up on top of me from behind and use my head as spring board to get from point A to point B...which startles me...and then it gets all freaked out.

It won't even EAT unless I put it right in front of it's food...like it doesn't realize it should eat or drink. THANKFULLY, it does still use the litter box...that's about the only "normal" thing it does anymore.

It falls off the bed when it's sleeping, (or the back of the sofa or the back of a chair, etc.) This morning it jumped right into the washing machine as it was filling up with water...didn't even look to see where it was jumping or where it would land.

Sometimes it just sits in the same spot for hours staring into space.

It's a friendly cat, but it's just WEIRD ! (aren't they all ? ) It never did any of these strange things prior to being fixed, so my conclusion is something went haywire with it's brain after the surgery.

My vet can't explain it either. I'm afraid this poor animal is a hazard to itself.

Anyone else have a bizarre-o cat ?

This is like having a child to look after so it doesn't hurt itself. It's also a little bit creepy, too.
