Hi, y'all. I went to see my psychologist last night and he felt like he finally had the right diagnosis for me- it's called Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder- which is not to be confused with OCD, which my husband actually has. This was one personality disorder I had never heard of, but frankly when he read off the symptoms, I didn't think it sounded like me- but both he and my husband thought it did.
I did a little research on the computer today and I still don't think it sounds like me. I am not a hoarder, not super organized, not inflexible when it comes to other people's foibles or actions- so how am I obsessive? Has anyone else heard of this disorder and/or has it? Maybe if I hear more real-life examples I will see something of myself in them. But as of right now, I don't think it fits that great!

Hi tbcrawford!
Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you....lost the thread for a while. Here is a good site to explain the disorder (in case you haven't looked it up yourself already) : http://psychcentral.com/disorders/sx26.htm Still don't think I am anything like this, but my psychologist thinks that I am and that I am just not a typical OCPD person that is described on these pages.

Hi, There is a TV show called Monk, about a private detective that has it. It is a commedy, but done tastefully and in such a way that we can laugh at our weaknesses, I think, instead of at the foilks who have them. It no longer runs now, but only in replays, I think. I don't own a TV, but I used to watch it when it did run in the mid 2000s. It gave me some hope that the disabled such as myself can do things and still be of value of society as Monk still did an excellent job, even though he was sometimes troubled by his OCD that it did disrupt his work.
I hope this helps! Your sister in the Lord, SheilaKathy Quote:
