Your RCIA classes were only about an emotional journey? That's so sad! They should be about the Church! Mine were. I pray that you find excellent resources and teachers to help make up for the failings of your classes (like St. Cyril of Jerusalem's Catechetical Lectures, specifically written in the 4th Century for adult converts like us )...
