Update 2/13/2006:
Now that the Catholic Answers Forums are over a year old, we now have many new forums in which to discuss various topics. That means that I and the moderators have been moving threads to more appropriate forums. It is a tedious process that you can help alleviate by choosing the right forum for your message.
Suggestions:
You're not interested in conversation; you want an answer to a question on Catholicism that you just haven't been able to find anywhere else. Submit your question to the
Ask an Apologist forum, but only after you
read this first .
Do you find yourself asking how to respond to issues or how to better understand issues? Do you find yourself asking about passages from articles or books or how to present the faith effectively? Are you talking about conversion or the conversion process? Use the
Apologetics forum.
So you see that you're typing in the name of a non-Catholic or non-Christian religion? Try the
Non-Catholic Religions forum. The Religion-specific sub-forum includes the
Eastern Christianity forum.
You want to discuss the Bible, including translational issues and exegesis, or you want to know where you can find that passage you heard in CCD twenty years ago and can no longer find.
Sacred Scripture is your forum.
Are you typing the name of any sacrament (including holy orders or priesthood issues), or are you are asking about the Mass or the divine liturgy? Including such issues as religious hymns, translations for the readings, extraordinary ministers, etc.? It goes into the
Liturgy & Sacraments forum.
You're interested in the moral implications and ramifications of the Church's doctrine. You want help in dealing with moral dilemmas that are appropriate for posting in a public forum. Go to
Moral Theology and post on.
You're wondering about such-and-so Catholic apostolate. You want to know about prayer and fasting. Use the
Spirituality forum.
You're interested in something Karl Keating said within the last week? If so, discuss it in the
Karl Keating's E-Letter forum.
You want to chat back to the staff of "Catholic Answers Live" or inquire about the future of our radio apostolate. Check out the
Radio forum.
Do you find yourself asking about your family members or things that interest you and/or your family? This includes favorite films, television shows, books, plays, songs, etc. Use the
Family Life forum.
Anything of newsworthy interest goes into the
In the News forum. Particular sub-forums (which are subject to archiving in the
Archive forum when the need for them ends) include
SCOTUS (The Supreme Court of the United States), and
Culture of Death (for discussion of pro-life issues in a pro-death culture).
You want to let us know about a technical difficulty with the forums and receive assistance in solving the probem. Go to the
Tech Support forum.
Finally, after exhausting all options and finding no other alternative, you find that your thread just doesn't fit the above criteria? Use the
Water Cooler forum, which is where you can also go to just hang around and shoot the breeze with fellow participants. But don't be surprised to find the post missing later... by moderator fiat it may be re-classified and forwarded to a new forum. Go into your
Member Profile and look for all posts by you and/or all threads started by you. You can then find where we stashed your post.
