Need advice from plumbers
We need to replace our kitchen faucet. We bought a new Price-Pfister, but now people are telling me that Price-Pfister is not such a good brand.
Do you have any suggestions for good quality name brand faucets?

Re: Need advice from plumbers
My husband, the home inspector, master-handyman, is saying this to me right now :
"Tell him that our Moen taps were 22 years old and Moen sent us brand new cartridges, and now our taps work like brand new...."
In other words, Moen's the brand for the big guy in this house, and he's the go-to guy for many wanna-be handymen around these parts....
Good luck!

Re: Need advice from plumbers
I agree with marlap2. I've been a home improvement contractor for over 30 years and I like to stick with Delta for the same reason. I've had to replace internal parts on faucets over 10 years old. Called up Delta and had the parts in a few days, no charge. The only advantage Price-Pfister has over Delta, Moen, etc. is the price. Do yourself a favor, return the faucet to HomeDepot, Lowes, or wherever you got it and get a name brand.

Thanks, everybody. I'm not a handyman--I'm an unhandy woman whose husband will be out of town for the next 7 weeks, so your advice is most helpful.

No problem. Any other questions, just ask.

Re: Need advice from plumbers
I would really doubt a products quality when it is labeled like this:
Made in China products are best only for the next three months.

Re: Need advice from plumbers
Unfortunately, just about everything in the stores these days is made in China. I called one plumbing supply store--privately owned, not a big box store--to ask if they carried any faucets made in the U.S. They didn't.

Re: Need advice from plumbers
The problem is much bigger. When you purchase a plumbing fixtures from places like HomeDepot and Lowes you will never be able to gets parts from a plumbing supply house. They won't carry parts for faucets purchased at Lowes. If you get the faucet from the plumbing supply house they will carry the parts to fix it.
That's independent from getting the parts from the manufacturer directly.

Re: Need advice from plumbers
Well, I hope I've done the right thing: I just purchased an industrial strength Chicago Faucet brand faucet from a plumbing supply store. Made in the USA. And I'm going to have a real plumber install it. It was a bit pricey, but I hope it will last longer than the 3 years our current faucet did.
