Default Looking for advice on sympathy card for a Jehovah's Witness

I've had a local Jehovahs's Witness visiting me for 'doorstep conversations' for over a year now. We've become friendly and I just learned that she lost her son this winter. He was only 44 and we both got pretty teary-eyed when she told me. It seemed so sad that I got a sympathy card to give her next time she stops by. It's a fairly generic card (thinking of you/sorry for your loss).

What I'm wondering is, would this kind of thing offend a Jehovah's Witness in any way? Also, I've forgotten her first name (terrible, I know). If I called my local Kingdom Hall and gave my address, would they be able to tell me the names of door-to-door Witnesses in my area? Thanks to anyone who can help with this matter.

I don't think it would offend her; I think it would mean an awful lot. I'm not sure the local kingdom hall would have that information - I've often been under the impression that they visit neighborhoods outside their own area, but I don't know if that's right or not. But I bet if you hold on to it until you see her again, it would mean a lot to receive it directly from you.

This is one of those human experiences that crosses all of the other boundaries we set up ... bless her heart, I'm so sad for her And bless yours for being so thoughtful

"Sorry for your loss" is a perfect olive branch, as both Catholics and Jehovah's Witnesses understand death and resurrection differently.

You may call the local Kingdom Hall, but they might not release the name of who is pioneering in your neighborhood. However, you may ask them to relay a message to her.

As long as it's generic in terms of religious overtones (nothing about heaven, crosses, angels, etc.), I'm sure she would appreciate it.

Thank you LPS, Miserissima and T More for the backup on this.

I'm going to try calling tomorrow to get this woman's name so I can give her the card directly as LPS said. It's hard not to add a little personal note, especially since I know she's a woman of faith, but you're right Miserissima, and I'd just be second guessing what I wrote due to the theological differences.
