Re: Should homosexuals be........
Celibacy is no sexual contact of any kind. Chastity is living out sexuality as prescribed by one's state in life. Married people are to be chaste but not (usually) celibate; single people are to be chaste AND celibate.

Re: Should homosexuals be........
Yes, but that's the formal "state in life" definition of celibacy as a formal vow, when applied to a vocation such as the priesthood or religious life (notice that the definition you give was under "Celibacy of the Clergy"). But the definition of the word celibacy itself is to abstain from sexual activity.
Example: When I go on business trips for a week or two, I am away from my wife, so I am celibate for that period of time. But I am not "a celibate" according to the definition you give; otherwise I would be "renouncing" my marriage during the business trip!

Re: Should homosexuals be........
Etymologically Celibacy ("caelibatus") refers to the state of being unmarried

Re: Should homosexuals be........
Etymology deals with the origin of a word. However, that can differ from its usage in today's society.
From the World English Dictionary:
Celibate — adj.
1. unmarried, esp by vow
2. abstaining from sexual intercourse
In the context of this thread, we were speaking of homosexuals, who are to behave like definition #2, not the "especially" part of definition #1.
But if you'd like, I'll "renounce my marriage" when I can't be with my wife for a few days...

This is disgusting. Having a discussion on a part of humanity and what it should be labeled as
Being Heterosexual cannot be forced onto a gay person. If they are homosexual deal with it, it doesn't involve you.
If you have something about my post to say please message me I don't feel like starting an online debate/war ect.
God loves all his children my goodness people.

Perhaps don't post on an online forum if you don't want responses/debate.

Happy with who they are. View their sexuality as a gift...not a curse. Find a mate and celebrate that they are no longer alone. Rejoice in their love and lives.

I agree with you. Can you force a person who is homosexual to be heterosexual? No. But they cannot have sex. Being attracted to the same sex is not the sin, the sex is where the sin is.
