You can't win this way.

I ordered Knell's book today.

Are you sure that Mr. Bergander was outside 24 hours a day looking into the sky in all parts of Dresden? Eyewitnesses who were there say that there was strafing of civilians in parts of Dresden. They don't claim that it occurred in every single part of the city, nor at every moment in time.

I'm sure that the facts as presented in Taylor's Appendix A are convincing. And that individuals who thought they saw purposeful strafing of civilians were seeing something else.

Bergander's writings, to the extent I have read them, don't say he was watching all parts of Dresden, to clear the Allies of post war calumnies. They show him investigating the claims and finding them unsupported by objective evidence. Sort of like Helmut Schanz, in his Tiefflieger uber Dresden? Legenden und Wirklickeit. . You will recall him and his conclusions. Wish I could read him, too.
