I'm sure that the facts as presented in Taylor's Appendix A are convincing. And that individuals who thought they saw purposeful strafing of civilians were seeing something else.
Bergander's writings, to the extent I have read them, don't say he was watching all parts of Dresden, to clear the Allies of post war calumnies. They show him investigating the claims and finding them unsupported by objective evidence. Sort of like Helmut Schanz, in his
Tiefflieger uber Dresden? Legenden und Wirklickeit. . You will recall him and his conclusions. Wish I could read him, too.
