Really, average Russian woman has seven abortions in her lifetime? Source?

I was over the top for that comment, I and apologize for making it.
However, I'm not exaggerating here. I've spent years studying and working in international politics, and Russia is headed for disaster if it doesn't get its act together. The biggest sectors of the economy are energy and arms. The country is woefully underdeveloped in just about every other area. Organized crime has effectively managed the country's economy since 1991.
The population is imploding due to the factors I mentioned previously and is forecasted to decline well into the next century. The abortion statistic comes from the Population Research Institute (US) and the Moscow Demographic Summit.

For the record, however, the abortion rate in Russia is far lower now than it was during the years of the Soviet Union. Even in recent years, there has been a marked drop in abortions.

(page 48)
The statistic of seven abortions in the lifetime of the average Russian woman, as staggering as it seems, may have been true during the Soviet era....at least judging from the graphs in the document I cited. But that was 30-50 years ago.
|
Might be a good idea regarding a new thread.
Fair enough on the stats. But...call me a skeptic, but I'd take the Russian government's own statisitcs with a grain of salt. They have had an extrememly poor record of accuracy before, during, and after the Soviet Union. Saving face in the eyes of the world has been the name of the game all along.

Re: Strange activity on brand new member
As a follow-up to my last post, I'm sure that the seven abortions per woman statistic includes the elder women who received multiple abortions during the communist era and are still living today.

What do you know?

An Eastern European pack of cyber thieves known as the Rove group hijacked at least four million computers in over 100 countries, including at least half a million computers in the U.S., to make off with $14 million in "illegitimate income" before they were caught, federal officials announced today.

They are getting smarter though. My spam folder has recently been flooded with emails claiming to be from my bank (and several others), saying that they've lost some of my details and I needed to email it to them. Looked very authentic - apart from the email address it was sent from was something like specialoffersforenglanduk@yahoo.com or similar, and of course a few spelling and grammar errors. I can understand how someone could fall for that one.

I always forward those to the actual company and then to the FBI.

I noticed the religion preference as well. At first it confused me but then I thought that it might be that they were typing in "Jehova's Witness" and then ran our of space.

Greetings Pro Bono,
No visit from the mysterious Marypickford. I wonder at these people that they do not have anything better to do.
Why join a forum if all you are going to do is snoop around and not post? One can snoop on the members and not be a member if one so chooses.
Does anyone know if you can view Member Profiles if you are not a member of Catholic Answers Forum?
God Bless.

I just viewed the user profile for that visitor you mention and under "Contact Info" the "Home Page" is listed as "ezcreditscores."

It's a bot, not a stalker. It's looking on your profile for identifying information as it does on all messageboards. It's looking for emails, telephone numbers, addresses so it can sell you stuff.
