"Catholic" Answers?
In the light of the ongoing saga of Real Catholic TV vs. the Archdiocese of Detroit over the use of the name 'Catholic', Dr Ed Peters has drawn our attention repeatedly to what ought to be the central issue: have any of Michael Voris' initiatives received ecclesiastical permission to use the word 'Catholic'?

Can. 216 Since they participate in the mission of the Church, all the Christian faithful have the right to promote or sustain apostolic action even by their own undertakings, according to their own state and condition. Nevertheless, no undertaking is to claim the name Catholic without the consent of competent ecclesiastical authority.

Can anyone tell me where and when Catholic Answers and catholic.com received consent of competent ecclesiastical authority? Apologies if this is is answered somewhere on the site, but I didn't find it in the 'About' section of catholic.com

I am not where to find the information on the Catholic.com site, however Catholic Answers is a recognized lay apostolate in the Diocese of San Diego, where it is based.

Re: "Catholic" Answers?
I have been an admirer of Karl Keating (and Pat Madrid back in the day) and the rest of the folks here at Catholic Answers since first becoming interested in Catholicism, and discovering them thru their magazine THIS ROCK, back in 1991.
I have checked them out,
and you may rest very soundly assured that CATHOLIC ANSWERS
is in EXCELLENT standing with the competent authorities of the Roman Catholic Church.
EXCELLENT standing.
Do a few liberal bishops and a dose of liberal priests dislike them?? SURE.
Just like they dislike and fought against Mother Angelica and EWTN,
but EWTN too is in very good standing with the ecclesial authorities of our Catholic Church.
I would never have sent Catholic Answers even ONE donation if that were not so,
just as I do NOT send donations to the SUSPENDED Father Nicholas Gruner and his
"Fatima Crusader" magazine and organization based in Constable, New York.

My query was more on the specific issue of permission to use the name 'Catholic'.
