Aid to the Church in Need
Hi All
A representative from Aid to the Church in Need spoke at Mass today and told us of the suffering of the brave priests, nuns and our Catholic brothers and sisters in the developing world, in the middle east and in China. They face violence, murder, persecution and sexual assault.
This is the link if you would like to learn more http://www.acnuk.org/
I'm sure that you will pray for all of our brothers and sisters who are suffering for their faith. We are very blessed to be able to freely attend Mass and practice our religion. We can often take our freedom for granted.
God bless,
Clare

Re: Aid to the Church in Need
I send my Mass requests to Aid to the Church In Need. The stipend goes to a struggling priest somewhere in the world who really needs it for his own survival or for the survival of those he serves. It's not exactly almsgiving, since I receive a benefit, but it's a very worthy cause. ACN supplies beautiful Mass cards. I order them in quantity and have them on hand for when I need them. I send the stipend when I'm ready to use a Mass card.

Re: Aid to the Church in Need
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Re: Aid to the Church in Need
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Re: Aid to the Church in Need
Aid to the Church in Need puts on specials on EWTN about once every two weeks. They normally highlight a specific country, a Bishop from that country. They're very compelling. And this is probably among the most worthy causes to consider for charity. Hopefully I'll be able to give them some money after I work this summer.
But, it just makes sense... if you want to help the Church where it really needs it... you give to the Aid to the Church in Need (it used to be called Aid to the Persecuted Church).
