Re: If the US became intolerable for catholics, where could we move?
Well, I know that Puerto Rico is part of the United States, but also kind of sovereign in a way. I'm not sure what laws passed by congress are binding on Puerto Rico, but it's something we could look into if the situation came. Also, we could possibly influence a vote for independence (though every time they vote on their status, they keep getting closer to statehood).
I was also thinking Poland. It is a heavily Catholic country and has a fairly good GDP. Additionally, i think the climate is similar.
Most Latin American countries are very Catholic.
In Brazil, abortion is outlawed in almost all circumstances so that may indicate that there would be less persecution there. Though, it may be too hot so if we moved closer to the south of Brazil it may be better. Or we could consider Argentina possibly if we wanted more similar climate.

Re: If the US became intolerable for catholics, where could we move?
I had this conversation with my girlfriend last week. We eventually landed on either Russia (where Christianity remains strong) or Hungary (which is so Christian it recently passed a new Constitution so reactionary it practically opens the door to a Hapsburg restoration).
Ultimately, though, we know it's silly even to talk about it. There will be nowhere to go when the gloves come off, except to our graves, singing.

Re: If the US became intolerable for catholics, where could we move?
Let's move up north as in more north than timmins, not a lot of people would want to persecute people out in the boonies.
But then again, cowards don't get to heaven. We need charity prudence and fortitude to understand what god wants of us in those situations, running away for self preservation isn't of the way.

In Fatima, our Lady, the BVM said that portugal would remain true to the faith, but it's probably up to the rest of us to stay where ever we are and put our shoulder to the wheel.
God has a plan and it will be succesfull.

We are seriously considering The Philippines. I have family there and a three bedroom, brand new home is around $50,000. It is also VERY Catholic.

Russia is not really very Christian. The decades of Communism have destroyed that society.
You'd do ok for Catholicism anywhere in Central Europe. In fact you'd probably do OK anywhere in Scandinavia, as the people there, even though some are irreligious and their governments may appear to be nuts, are not as nuts as the progressives in these Anglophone countries "liberating" themselves off the shackles of religion. Seriously, things are not as bad outside the English speaking world.

I wouldn't leave America.

I disagree. I don't think that's running away at all. Plenty of people emigrate and if God made the planet, He made it for everyone of us. Of course bureaucrats will disagree.
You're not renouncing your faith by moving somewhere. You're in fact embarking on a difficult journey for the sake of your faith. Of course I don't think you should move out of the US as I think it's one of the safest and best countries to live in and have freedom of religion. You just need to vote the guys you disagree with out. I say this as an emigrant myself.

Re: If the US became intolerable for catholics, where could we move?
I'll assume you mean "seriously" intolerant. No one should leave when a country becomes intolerant to the church. You take the church and your faith underground, you tend it and keep it alive until the day things change. The more brave among us would defend it openly and perhaps become martyrs. In the end it would pass like all storms do.

If you wouldn't leave the country itself, then what part of it might you instead move to?

So we would lose our country and our souls? No thanks.

No where! We can't just duck and hide. We have to fight back - not all of us have enough money to just pick up and move to a new country. Fight for our brothers and sisters!

How would you instead deal with such an event?
