What is with the trend of serious-minded Catholics getting taken in by this kind of stuff? Why construct complete alternate timelines? This seems to me like a manifestation of Protestant revisionism in the cause of a direction which the Holy Spirit did not lead the Church.
It seems like a highly internet-driven phenomenon, with very few folks in the real world who hold such beliefs. Are these people just the Catholic equivalent of 'birthers'?
