Favorite dinner prayer?

Would love to hear what some of your favorite prayers are that you say with your family at dinner? We have been going with the simple, "God is great, God is good...".

We do a count-down to God Is Great, God is Good, Let Us Thank Him For Our Food. Short, sweet and gets right to the heart of the matter.

Sometimes I do more elaborate prayers, but many times I stick to the simple, traditional: "Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive through Thy gracious bounty through Christ Our Lord. Amen." It says everything that needs to be said, and, whenever I visit a Catholic house and it's said, I can join right in with everybody else

Yes, I say this prayer, but before the "Amen" I thank Him for all the blessings he has given us and ask for the strength to do His will in all things. Amen.

Bless, O Lord, these gifts to our use, us to Thy loving service, and make us ever mindful of, and responsive to, the needs of others. Through Thine only Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

I always simply say "Bless us oh Lord and these Your gifts which we are about to receive from your bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen." If I am eating by myself I substitute we for I of course.

I started saying a prayer that I made up before we say our final before meals prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for the food we are about to receive, we pray that it be blessed to our bodies, and we pray for those whom are away for us...Bless us O'Lord for These Thy Gifts, etc.

Me too.

When I was a kid (non-Catholic household), my mother improvised a prayer that became our standard grace: "Dear Lord, give us thankful hearts for these and all your blessings, we ask for Christ's sake, amen." Eventually, we started adding, "and bless the hands that prepared it." Then for a post-holiday leftovers meal, I, being the wise-acre that I am, added, "and bless the hands that repaired it," and that's been a running family joke ever since.

One thing that is rarely done, and that perhaps should be done more often, is to offer thanks for the senses that will make eating the meal enjoyable.

Well, while that is my "favorite," we acutally use the common table blessing in our house:

"Bless us, oh, Lord, for these Thy gifts, which we are about to recieve, from Thy bounty, through Christ, our Lord, Amen."
And then we include personal intercessions and intentions.

What we do is say, what comes from our Hearts, We usually say Bless mother please tell Jesus your son, to tell his Father we Thank him for the food we have before us,and than we offer it up for a certain reason,Maybe for the suffering, for the dieding ,the poor,or our own intenion,
