Hi everyone, I'm glad to find this group.
I have struggled with my weight since about age 8 or 9 and I'm 48 now. Also had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and am insulin resistant (my mom was Type 1 diabetic). I have a picky-eating palate (I'm actually on a board for picky eating adults! ), don't like a lot of veggies and tend to crave carbs, But I have been able in the past to train myself to at least make better selections within my parameters of what foods I do eat, and to control portions and try to listen to my hunger. In 2007 I lost 30 lbs. that way. But I kind of got sloppy when I hit the infamous "dieter's plateau."![]() So...I have a fair number of pounds to lose all told. I'm not sure exactly how many, 70-80 or thereabouts. I've had extra pounds so long I don't know about my bone density and all of that. I'll know I've reached my goal when I've lost a few clothing sizes and feel energetic and healthy again.I also recently had hernia surgery so I'm all about wanting to tighten and strengthen the abdominal area to prevent the repairs coming undone and having to go through another operation. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to tips! |

I've been through a lot of turmoil, although things are getting better. Just had my thyroid tested (I have a few other symptoms besides the stubborn weight that kind of point thataway) and go back to the dr on the 15th.
I've been exercising 30 min a day using the "My Fitness Coach" for Wii (what I like about it is that it isn't the same routine every day, it gets mixed up and you can choose concentrations like lower body, core, upper body, flexibility and have a different concentration each day). I'm trying to stick w/ Sparkpeople again, but it's kind of hard because the produce is *so* expensive, especially this time of year. ![]()

Great! I say let it become very active!!! It is very hard being overweight, but I think with the prayers and support of others the journey is much smoother AND with other Catholics we have the backing of our rich faith to help us also. Have a blessed day.

Well, thyroid tested normal. So I guess I have to look elsewhere for the stubborn weight, fatigue, brittle nails, and the rest.
