Shawn, if it helps regarding Mary, she was present with the Apostles at the time of Pentacost. She's everything the Catholic Church teaches. I've had a hard time with "Mother of God" for some time, even this is waning.
Take care. I have experienced some of what you mentioned of your ailments. I pray for your continued courage and perseverence.
