Question How Do You Know If Someone Has Been Banned?

Hello:

When I look at the postings in CAF, each member has their status written directly under their username i.e. Trial Membership, New Member, Regular Member, Junior Member, Senior Member, Veteran Member etc.

Today I was going through the posts and came across a member that had posting on a fairly regular basis, but the status written directly under their username said "Banned".

Does that mean that that member has been banned from CA forums?

I'm a relatively new member and am just trying to understand how that sort of thing works.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Yes, it means they're banned, usually permanently.

On CAF there is an infraction system. Breaches of CAF rules, which can be found under the 'Rules of the Road' section of CAF, mean a moderator will give to a person a certain number of infraction points. These points will have with them an expiry date, although some infractions can be made permanent. Once the expiry date passes, the points are removed and no longer count, although the record of the infraction remains.

When an infraction is given, the moderator giving the infraction will notify the person via private message (PM) and a new tab will appear on the profile, called 'Infractions', which dispays the infraction's date, the reason given and the expiry date.

Once a person has reached a total of points, they are banned permanently from CAF.

EDIT: It must be added that the Infractions tab on the profile is ONLY visible to the person given the infraction and the moderators/admins. Similarly, it's pretty much impossible to know why any member is banned, unless you have some form of contact with them outside of the forums (Facebook, email or whatever), as it is not CAF policy to discuss bans.

EDIT 2: Must also be said that some forums have their own specific rules in addition to the CAF rules. For example, in the non-Catholic Religions forum it is forbidden to make threads about you leaving the Church to join another religion, Generally if there is a specific forum rule, there is a sticky at the top of the forum with information.

Mnm, it really doesn't matter how long you've been here or how much you've posted.
