Preppers need transportation and it makes sense.to have a working bicycle "just in case" We're looking at $5/gallon gas in my state, and having one's savings vanish, insurance premiums climbing, under employment and food getting more expensive it is a valuable option. Old bikes are cheap, easily spiffed up, and with a rack will bring home the groceries from the local farmers market and maybe even get you to work on time if the weather is good.
My son just "took" my bike. I've got another, even older one I may have to fix up. Do you have a bike, or plan on getting one? I'm not talkng about brand new ones (although thats not a bad thing---I'm just frugal) |

I do plan on getting a bike, though for me, it has more to do with excercise than the current level of gas prices. With 3 small children (and another on the way), a bike just won't cut it for our family.....

A bike trailer would be a nice to have. Maybe a converted child carrier, but they actually make pull trailers for bikes.
