Default "Control Freaks" my latest work in progress...read it here

Greetings:

In my third story (in progress) I'm attempting to write from the first person perspective (as I believe my main character will appear in every scene). I've found this perspective much easier but keeping track of the tense requires much attention. Any pointers are welcomed.

The story is going to be about a modern St. Paul; the story takes place in the year 2042 (thirty years from now). This man, Sal, is a persecutor of "threats to society". However, Sal has epiphany event that now has him as one of the persecuted. It has been interesting to speculate as to how modern American society might be like in the year 2042. With recent news stories and events, I can see many of my suggestions, unfortunately, coming into reality if we are not vigilant in safeguarding our freedoms.

You can view my work in progress as well as some book cover ideas on my Skydrive site. If you are interested and read some of the story, please provide me feedback, good, bad, ugly, no problem; it's all about the story and getting it right. Let me know if you have a book cover preference as well.

Happy New Year...and God's peace.
Edward

LatinGirl:

It is so hard to find the opportunity to write, but I am at the end of chapter four now (1st rough draft). At night is the only time I have to write with peace and quiet...but I'm so tired from the day at my "real" job.

The plot was made so real by the recent HHS mandate that was recently in the news...that of stripping-away religious freedoms and the reception Rick Santorum's beliefs have been getting in the press. It is my opinion that "Control Freaks" very well could happen in the next 30 years (at the rate we are going).

God's peace...
Edward

I know what you mean, I went to college and still can't find a "real job". That is part of the reason I turned to writing but mostly because my Catholic faith is so inspiring to my creativity.

I see, yes the HHS mandate is very bad. They have alot of nerve to push around the Catholic Church like they are doing right now. God bless you for fighting this in your writing. As it is said :The pen is mightier than the sword."

In some ways my series of novellas "The Misadventures of Cardinal Fratelli" is to combat anti-Catholicism and anti-clericalism by portraying a cardinal who is virtuous, lovable and kind-hearted instead of the evil cardinals you usually see in books and movies.

Thanks for replying to me.

LatinGirl:

Hang tough…continue to pray; when I was unemployed I found solace in Matthew 6:25-34, reading it every night so as to lessen the anxiety that would keep me awake.

Keep developing your writing (and painting) so as to lead others to our Lord.

God’s peace…
Edward

Thank you very much Edward. I pray for God providence regularly and appreciate your words of encouragement.

By the way, I did start a separate thread for my book "The Misadventures of Cardinal Fratelli."

I find that in these hard times, comedy is very therapeutic, especially wholesome, clean comedy unlike that trash that surrounds us today.

Feel free to write anytime.
