Sooo... I am a recent Catholic convert, and I keep hearing accusations from various Protestant denominations (mainly Seventh-Day Adventists) that the Church of Rome is the "Great Harlot" mentioned in Revelation. They try to justify this by pointing out that the city of Rome sits on seven hills, that certian members of the clergy wear "scarlet and purple", and are "decked out in pearls and precious gems", and go so far as to say that the Vatican is "the Temple in which the Pope pretends to be God." How do you counter such accusations?
How do I counter the accusation that the Church is the "Whore of Babylon"?
