Funny/Cute things our kids do

Just a lighthearted thread for all the parents to share our fun experiences.

Some background on my story: when my 3 year old DD goes to Mass, she loves to bless herself with the Holy Water. This typically means that she dunks her entire hand in the font and then places it right on top of her head. So she ends up with a little wet hand print on her hair more often than not.

This afternoon, I heard her singing the "Lamb of God" and snuck into the room to see what she was doing. She had her little cup of juice, and was blessing herself with it while singing.

Bath time came a bit early tonight.

How cute is she! I laughed out loud when I read this!

My little one isn't here quite yet but my Fiance's God-Daughter enjoys telling everyone within her sight "Peace be with you," even if it means trying to crawl over the pews to reach everyone...today her mom and I had to pull her back.

My daughter is a mix between both your daughter summersmiles and your god daughter kelfa. She does both of those things :P

She's also apparently made it her mission to be the one from the children's liturgy to take up the collection.

We sent our kids to a Jewish preschool.

When picking up dd from her 3s class one day, the teacher joked to my wife. I just wanted to tell you what your daughter did before lunch today. We were about to give a blessing, and she said. "Wait, I want to teach you all something." Dd proceeded to teach all her classmates the sign of the cross. (She had been learning about the sign of the cross in her sunday school class)

and the teacher ended with. "If i get any calls tonight, i'm giving them your phone number." (He was joking, he thought it was pretty funny).

Around Christmas time my first grade class was performance a dance with ribbon wands to the Nutcracker. I was distributing the ribbons to the bouncing children when a little boy called Patrick came up to me holding his ribbon. He said, "This ribbon isn't going to get any presents from Santa!" I stared at him like he was crazy. "What are you talking about?" I asked him. He held the ribbon wand up and it was all twisted and knarled up.
"It's too knotty," he says.

LOL. That reminds me of when the Mormon temple opened up in my area and they had tours of it. I don't remember which room we were in, but they had something resembling a kneeler in the center of the room. This little boy ran up, knelt down, and folded his hands. He was probably about 4 years old. All the other people touring thought it was cute, but the lady running the tour wasn't very amused.

My son enjoys blessing himself as well. Of course, if I'm not quick enough to stop him he'll use the dog's drinking dish.

My wife was reading a book to our foster daughter (who is black). She flipped a page and said "What is that?"

Our foster daughter yelled out happily "Thats a HONKY!"

My wife quietly corrected her with "No, that's a donkey."

Saturday was my older son's first confession. I was practising with him and this is how the conversation went.

Alex: "Daddy, they said I need to tell Father Keith my sins. What should I say?"
Me: "Think about all the times you did not show God's love or did something wrong or something that you were not supposed to do."
Alex: "Like when I misbehave or do not listen"
Me: "Yes"
Alex: "Or when I get angry?"
Me: "Yes"
Alex: "Or when I kick my little brother? I did not mean to kick him hard."
Me: "Yes that too. Think of times you did not share or were not nice to other people."

LONG Pause

Alex: "Daddy, it is going to be a long list"

So Saturday came, he was a bit nervous but was called and he went in. And he was there, and there and there. He was in for quite a while. He came out smiling and went off to do his penence (I joined him for that and prayed with him). I asked him what he talked about. He looked at me and said "Daddy, that is just between me, Father and God. I am not telling you".

I was quite proud of him.

I was just reading the thread on homeschooling a one year old and it reminded me of a story about my now seven year old. (Well there is an actual story about baby-talk, but i'll skip that one for this one).

When he was less then a year old, i used to take a lot of walks with him in a backpack. At that level, he was right at my ear level and i could enjoy talking or singing with him. So, i would amuse myself and him by mentioning things as we went by. Even though he wasn't talking very much, he knew what i was saying - and that was clear when i didn't mention what something was - for example, if i went by a tree without saying "Tree", he would grunt at me and point.

One of our more traveled routes brought us near an elementary school. And there was a crossing guard on one corner that would talk and talk and talk. Sometimes it was difficult to get away without her following us halfway down the block still talking. She was very sweet, but it did get to be too much. Well before my son was a year old, he started staying "Bye Bye" well before we reached her - probably when we were half a block away.

She thought it was so cute - thinking that he didn't know what he was saying. But I knew that he knew exactly what he was saying and was hoping to head off any conversation before it began. (When you are a parent of a young child, that are things in their behavior that you know because of how they usually act).

A little girl I was tutoring today was supposed to write a journal entry from the point of view of a pioneer child that was living "on the plains". She wrote a very creative and humerous tale of a day in the life of a child that lived on an airplane.

My youngest did something...but not so cute.

We were downstairs watching tv, and he left the room. I followed him, and I assumed he went upstairs (no other obvious place to go) I get upstairs, and no toddler. I call his name, no answer. I go back downstairs, check the boiler room,- laundry room. No toddler, bathroom - no toddler. Calling his name, "Answer Mommy!" Nothing.

After a bit a get a giggle. He had hidden under the desk. Longest 5 minutes.

Fiona, my naughty almost-3-year-old, has been on a 'food strike' recently. Everything I give her to eat, she declares "I don't ike it, mommy". I give her everything we eat, to at least try. Instead of giving her salad in salad form, I just give her bits of everything off the salad with some dressing on the side to dip into. She usually eats something that way, even if it's just walnuts and apple and a few spinach leaves with a piece of toast.

The other night I made blue cheese, pear, and apple salad with candied pecans. Before dinner, she had been playing with play-do. I just stacked the canisters on the side of her tray and gave her supper beside it. I left the room and came back, to discover her food was all gone! I said "Fiona, did you eat all of your supper already?". She gave me a S**t eating grin and said "uh huh, I eat it all up!". I was suspicious, and noticed the blue play do canister was sitting closer to her and had salad dressing on it. I opened the can, but all I saw was one spinach leaf on top of the play do. So she must have eaten her supper, right?

The next morning, my husband found a giant ball of blue play do in the living room. He went to put it back in the container, but it was full of blue play do already.... so he pulled out the play do in the can, to discover the ENTIRE supper I had given Fiona stuffed underneath the play do. That little booger hid all of her chopped pear, apple, cheese, spinach, and pecans underneath play do. Gross

, and shockingly sneaky.
