Default Condi Rice in NY spends 1,000s on shoes; tens of thousands in Gulf have no shoes!

Bush's buddy, Condoleeza Rice, his trendy Secretary of State, went to the theater in New York City on Wednesday and then went shopping and spent thousands of dollars on new shoes.

According to Drudge, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently enjoyed a little Broadway entertainment. And Page Six reports that she’s also working on her backhand with Monica Seles. So the Gulf Coast has gone all Mad Max, women are being raped in the Superdome, and Rice is enjoying a brief vacation in New York. We wish we were surprised.

What does surprise us: Just moments ago at the Ferragamo on 5th Avenue, Condoleeza Rice was seen spending several thousands of dollars on some nice, new shoes (we’ve confirmed this, so her new heels will surely get coverage from the WaPo’s Robin Givhan). A fellow shopper, unable to fathom the absurdity of Rice’s timing, went up to the Secretary and reportedly shouted, “How dare you shop for shoes while thousands are dying and homeless!” Never one to have her fashion choices questioned, Rice had security PHYSICALLY REMOVE the woman.

Angry Lady, whoever you are, we love you. You are a true American, and we’ll go shoe shopping with you anytime.

It's too bad those security people surrounding her weren't in New Orleans protecting (and feeding) the many thousands still stranded there.

Wouldn't you just think that a National Emergency would have been declared by now and every cabinet officer would be at their desks in Washington?

Bush took an extra day to meander back home and I understand that Cheney is still on vacation in Wyoming. Even his press secretary doesn't know when he is coming back.

Bush cautions that people should be responsible and that he will get help there as fast as he can.

How responsible must you be when you're starving to death and dying of thirst?

What kind of leaders have we selected? How can we get rid of them?

The trouble is, I don't see anybody, from either party, qualified to replace who we have now.

The silence from Washington is deafening!

I'm outraged and I am ashamed and embarrassed to be an American, and I'm not that proud to be a Catholic either. Many from the Church are helping, but what we need are some outraged screamers.

You couldn't do any better than this?

Try to find some TRUE REAL news.

Hey! She's like our own modern day Marie Antoinette. But really, what do people expect from oil big whigs?

I believe that my president was at a Padre's game on Tuesday. They are like two peas in a pod. Insensitive and clueless.

Some people in Deluth and across the nation, are spending time doing nothing to help the massive needs, of those who are in need. Instead, they idle away time and resources on petty things and fiddling while New Orleans burns and millions of people need help.

Meantime, others across the nation, are working non stop trying to help and getting on with important business. Saving lives and helping the helpless. From government workers to John and Jane Doe, they are pitching in to help with time and money.

Have a nice dry, safe day in your swivel chair. Have a bagel for those who have nothing to eat. They appreciate your concern.

God Bless America,
Marie

I think all snarky comments from whatever end of the political spectrum one falls, should stop. I'm amazed at the politicization by both sides.

And how are you so sure Condi hasn't matched her shoe shopping budget dollar for dollar on a donation down south?

And I am sure that the original poster of this thread will not wear shoes, will go hungry and sleep on a bridge in respect for the victims of this hurricane. Not. Obviously this would be ludicrous and help no one. Political bashing at this time does not help one victim of this situation actions do.

The ones I am embarrassed of are the news papers, political bashers and those that are trying to divide this country in this time of need. We don't need blame we need action. We might not agree with the reasons for this lack of action or type of needs, but, as a nation we need to pull together and not further divide ourselves.

We are all called to help. Some directly, some with less energy use and some going on as normal to keep the public from further panic. Please lets not point fingers. Not yet. People need help not words.

GOD BLESS

Good point Lucania. They just don't get it do they.

Shakes head, and onto more important things. Like trying to find my missing family in LA.

Give me a break!!! Have you watched the news?? What if that were you? What if you had to watch your baby starve or go without formula? Then would you agree that our leaders aren't doing all they can? From what I've seen they've done very little. Or is that okay since most of those they show are low-income black families?
Whether you want to admit or not, our government is an embarrassment. If Bush wanted to attack Syria he could be ready in a day's notice, but he can't see to it that these people are taken care of? And it's a real shame that people support him no matter how bad of a job he does.
God Bless the people in New Orleans!! They need it!!

GOD BLESS

So why do you have time to be checking forums? You mean you aren't on the way to one of the Red Cross shelters right now?

What a hypocrite.

Peace

Reason: lack of charity

Personally attacking newsmakers violates forum rules. If you wish to criticize, do so politely and charitably.
