Dutch Catholic Church issues
Today on AOL news someone wrote an article about Dutch Catholic Churches Castrating young boys in the 1950s. Of course the only time anyone seems to talk about us Catholics is when something bad happens.. What is your opinion on the matter?

Re: Dutch Catholic Church issues
My opinion does not really matter; however, I cannot stop seeing that now governments want the Church to kill children by providing financial support for ABC and abortion. That also includes the targeted killing of children with down syndrome after prenatal screening.

Re: Dutch Catholic Church issues
I read a couple of articles and found that the story was hard to follow. In some versions, these castrations took place in a bording school. In others, a mental institution for children. In one part of the article, the boys were casterated as some sort of misguided treatment for homosexuality. Later, it says that it was done as punishment for complaining about priests and monks molesting them. I don't think the information is clear enough for me to have any opinon other than castration is not a reasonable treatment for non-violent sexual perversions.

Re: Dutch Catholic Church issues
I just find it to be a shame that people can only talk about Catholics when it's negative...

Re: Dutch Catholic Church issues
There was a lot of disgusting medical practices going around in those days. Look at what the medical professionals did to test syphilis, mental retardation, etc.
Those were barbaric days, all around.
