Greetings!
I am an Anglo-Catholic and wanted to know if the Passionist Associates accept non-Roman Catholics into the Association? Thanks. Val |

Hi Val,
I do not believe a non-Catholic can be enrolled into ANY Catholic confraternity or pious association since these communities are for practicing Catholics. And, the enrollment in the Black Scapular is a sacramental of the Catholic Church, one that requires the rite being celebrated by a Catholic priest. However, that doesn't stop you from wearing the Passionist Scapular and receiving great graces from it. Peace, Joseph |

O Thanks for the reply. I got a response from the Associates director in Pittsburgh. Non-catholics can belong to the Passionists.

Do they allow Associates long distance? Closest Passionists to my area is about 6 hours south.

Associates are usually those that are lay partners - some professed if I am correct. I found out recently that eing long distance, I can join the Confraternity of the Passion - but Associates are normally local so they can attend regular meetings under these programs.
Hope this helps.
