For the sake of historical accuracy, I must say that while the Act of Toleration did in fact grant religious liberty, it did so only to Christians. Jews and atheists would get the death penalty. However, it was probably pushed more by Protestants that this occur, because it was because of Protestant intolerance of the Catholics that the act was even written up. On the other hand, the Catholics mostly entailed Lord Baltimore's friends and family, who tended to "lord it over" their Protestant workers. So I suppose that's that.
