The Feast of Our Lady of Ransom is not celebrated in the U.S., but is a fantastic story.
It was in a vision that Mary appeared individually to St. Peter Nolasco, St. Raymond, and King James I asking them to start a new religious order – the Order of Our Lady of Mercy.
Their purpose was to liberate Christians from their Muslim captors, even giving themselves up as hostages if all else failed.
