Lady Gaga tour starts in Seoul with adults-only concert
Quote:
US pop star Lady Gaga has kicked off her Born This Way Ball tour with a concert in Seoul that fans under the age of 18 were forbidden to attend.
Protests in the South Korean capital prompted authorities to make the gig an adults-only event earlier this month.

The pressure seems to have come from Christian groups. South Korea is approximately 40-45% Christian, but they are fervent in their beliefs. South Korea produces more missionaries than any other country in the world, besides the US (whose population is six times larger)
She may encounter further trouble on her east Asian tour.
Quote:
Gaga potentially faces further backlash from other religious groups as the tour continues. Her upcoming stops include Hong Kong, Taipei, Manila, Singapore and Jakarta over the next few weeks, before she heads to Australia and New Zealand.
"I call on Lady Gaga to respect our cultural and traditional values. Most people here are Muslims and we cannot tolerate her revealing outfits and sexy performances," Amidhan, leader of Indonesia's Muslim clerical body the Ulema Council, told Agence France-Presse.
"It's better for Lady Gaga to cancel her show in this country if she has no willingness to respect our demand. Please do not destroy our nation's morality and ruin our dignity."

Re: Lady Gaga tour starts in Seoul with adults-only concert
I went to one of her concerts last year, and I had a blast. It was a little more adult-oriented, I guess. But she also had a nice message about standing up for yourself and believing in yourself.

Too bad she promotes people to indulge in their sexual inclinations, be they gay or straight (primarily gay) and thus promote sending people to hell. Yeah let's support her.

This is gloomy. I'm pretty sure Jesus wants us to love ourselves no matter our sexual orientations.

Re: Lady Gaga tour starts in Seoul with adults-only concert
This female confuses me, from doing sacrelige on her video (alejandro) and promoting being gay and proud. A product of a Catholic School (now im not judging all Catholic schools) but the Catholic school i went to, is small wonder, why she turned out to be who she is. Arch. Fulton J. Sheen said " if u want your kids to lose the Faith, send them to a Catholic school, you want them to keep and fight for their Faith, send them to a Public school"

That's harsh. Try The Worst Of What Pop Culture Could Be.
There, that's milder and also closer to the truth!

Of course Jesus wants us to love ourselves. I said she promotes "indulging" same sex inclinations, ie sex. She promotes promiscuity and smut and real evil. And because she's such a "freak" or "monster" or whatever she calls herself, the public eats her up treating her as a goddess. She deserves our prayers because just about every time she opens her mouth she's saying something that is contrary to being faithful to Christ (putting it nicely)

No man or woman is an abomination, all are children of God and dear to him. Lady Gaga's behaviour is rather ludicrous at times and as LW says it represents the very worst of popular culture also on occassion but to call her a 'helpless abomination' is taking several steps too far.

Re: Lady Gaga tour starts in Seoul with adults-only concert
Due to pressure from Muslim groups, she was denied a concert permit for Indonesia.
Now heading for the Philippines, she is facing new protests.
Quote:
About 70 members of a group called Biblemode Youth Philippines rallied in front of the Pasay City Hall in metropolitan Manila. They said they were offended by Lady Gaga's music and videos, in particular her song "Judas," which they say mocks Jesus Christ.
Lady Gaga has secured papers for two concerts Monday and Tuesday, but Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto said he told organizers to ensure that "they follow the rules and regulations stipulated in the concert permit earlier provided by the city government."
"Although we respect artistic and musical expressions, I won't allow anyone or any group to provide acts which may be questionable in a way at any venue under my jurisdiction," he said in a statement. "We reminded the producers of Lady Gaga's concert that the show and the event as a whole shall not exhibit any nudity or lewd conduct which may be offensive to morals and good customs."
Protest leader and former Philippine Congressman Benny Abante says his group plans to file a case against Lady Gaga and concert organizers if she sings "Judas" at her Manila gigs.

It makes me wonder why he doesn't sue the people who play that song everyday (like in my office radio).

Re: Lady Gaga tour starts in Seoul with adults-only concert
I'd be happy if she was censored or not allowed to perform here in Australia too... although I doubt it will happen.
You never know though.
Might get through to the Record Company and they might put pressure on her to tone down her acts. Would do a world of good.
