We're opening a Byzantine Catholic grammar school--with sisters!

Great news about the school! It takes me back to my youth. I hope these sisters get the support they need. I know I took our teaching sisters for granted back in the old days (and now they're gone).

I was thinking of you on Friday when we were at Holy Virgin and the kids from Saint John of SF Orthodox Academy came in to pray their end of the day prayers at the relics of St. John. Not a lot of kids but apparently the Orthodox think it's worth it, and they are right!

(At the end of their prayers they each got anointed, as did the rest of us. )

I'm a bit surprised by the plaid for an Orthodox school.

As an update for ours . . . 7-10 Vasilian sisters will be coming out altogether, with 5 coming for the school, four of whom will be in the classroom. Initially, they will use the 5 bedroom house as a convent, and we'll rent a house nearby, since they won't all fit (what a problem to have--too many sisters!). We'll then build the actual motherhouse behind it (it's a 2 acre lot), and presidium ably demolish the house.

When he offered Mass at the shrine this morning, he was approached afterwards with an offer of help with the permits when the time comes--by a county commissioner!

Building permits we're issued a couple of weeks ago, and this last week, we started construction.

I suppose "broken ground" is the wrong term, given that the building was already there . . .

Praise God! This is absolutely wonderful! If I was a parent and lived in your area, I'd surely send my children to this school.
