Undo apparent "rate thread" spam on Catholic News?

Hello!

Looking through the first page of Catholic News, it appears that nearly all of the threads are rated with 1 star. Perhaps I am reading it wrong, but it looks like they were rated 1 star by someone without giving any sort of thought to the thread itself. It's another way to spam, I suppose.

Then again, someone may have genuinely rated all the threads one star...but even then, I don't see any objections to some of the threads.

Is there a way to undo these ratings? I also ask out of curiosity.

A spammer came through here roughly 20 hours ago, spreading nonsense widely about. All of those one star ratings appeared about the same time, so I suspect they are his. However, when his trollish posts were deleted, along with his account, his thread ratings were not.

I dunno... I would be in favor of getting rid of the star system altogether. It seems to be mainly used by persons who start a thread and then give themselves five starts, before anyone else has posted.

Thanks Dale! I didn't know about the spammer. I was busy, deep in study for finals week.

So I suppose the ratings are permanent, unless the thread is deleted?

Thanks for mentioning this. I feel the "star" system could be reconsidered. Is it really helping people find good material? Is it useful? Or can it be misleading? If it's not adding to the CAF experience, let's remove the clutter. With the approval of participants and mods of course.

To get rid of one-star spam.......simple.

Read the thread and if you believe the thread deserves more votes......then vote. If not, move on.
