Because I am the mother of a number of adult children on the autism spectrum, I am forever being sent forms to fill out, (usually) by hand.
I say by hand (because the only fast way to get things done is by touch typing, which I been doing for years) because I was once a typist in an office, before having children.
The forms come from government agencies (here in Australia), both state and Federal, and from other places as well. I absolutely hate these forms, and literally go to pieces when another one arrives in the mail.
There are a few around at the moment, just waiting to be filled in, and sent back to the people who sent them to me.
I would rather do anything (cooking, washing, etc.) than tackle them.
A few days ago a Catholic School girl in another Australian state, sent me a survey that she had to do for her religious studies class. I looked at it and tried to type into the form which was attached to the email.
That was wishful thinking. It was not interactive. I read the questions and opened up a word file, and quickly typed the answers in. If I had to hand write all the information, I would have taken forever.
The school girl can print out her form, and put in my short answers by hand, and print out my much longer answers and reasons, and literally paste them onto the form (with real life paste). When completed, she can take a digital picture of the form and download it to her computer, or scan it into her computer and print it out.
Does anyone else share my hatred of the many government forms, and forms from other places, that you have to fill out and send back? This is really a draw back in modern life.
Life used to be so simple. You just lived in a cave, caught an animal and skinned it, cooked it for the meat, and kept the skin to wear, got some water from the river to drink, and also to wash your animal skin clothes, and kept a cow or goat for the milk.
If anyone can show me a positive side to form filling, I would appreciate it. Before I dig in and fill out the current forms, I will probably say the Mother Teresa Express Novena!
