when the traditional employment model fails..
What to do? A variety of factors make the traditional model of employment model of the 40 hour, working for someone else, week seem unlikely to work for me. On the other hand, the alternatives mostly require resources and a support system unavailable to me. Between a rock and a hard place is no place to be financially. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Why doesn't it work for you specifically?

Re: when the traditional employment model fails..
Yes, working for someone else can be unfulfilling. However, the answer is revealed in the question you posed regarding alternatives mostly requiring resources and a support system you noted that are unavailable to you.
Well, the answer is hiding in plain view - and that is to find a business you can start on your own, from scratch, that doesn't initially require much in the way of resources, or anything other than your own efforts and engagement. Or copycat a successful business model. If you can find a business related to some hobby you have, or something you love to do...then it won't be 'work' or drudgery. That is the key.
You are only limited by your own lack of imagination. There are countless things to do that you can make a good living at. For many, the easiest path is to work for someone else. But the most fun, interesting (and gratifying) work is often being your own boss, running your own small business. Dream. Then follow your dream. Make it a reality. Live in the present moment. Don't worry about the past, or the future. Live in the here and now. Man up and sieze the moment.

Re: when the traditional employment model fails..
Usually the most successful careers involve a service provided to others. How can you make life better, easier, more rewarding, healthier, etc. You will also have a double reward of money to live on and a satisfaction of helping. Also it isnfunny almost, but when you give in this way, much more is given on return. That is my wisdom for you tonight
