Re: Meet and Greet # 87
Simply had to respond to your note. I too became separated from my husband after many years of marriage (1969 - 1999). We had 8 children, now there are 10 grandchildren, he entered into some kind of second marriage not pleasing to God - a courthouse civil marriage. No, he never did completely abandon his children and I know how to reach him if I have to But the insulting and painful part of it all is that he and this new wife of his live in the same town with me and our family and he likes to give the impression that all of this is just "nice and normal" and not seeming to care about those marriage vows he made in a catholic church before a priest, God, and 125 witnesses in the summer of 1969, and yes, he was also raised Catholic, but never attended mass. In the meantime, according to our faith, God says he is still my husband, and at 63 years of age, I don't fool around wondering about dating. I mean, at my age, why would I want some other woman's "leftovers"? I live in the Diocese of Arlington, so I too have heard about the education for parish service program. However at this point of time I stay pretty busy helping my children with their children, plus bringing in a few extra dollars. and in a spiritual way, now I have more time with my Lord, since the husband is gone., .

Re: Meet and Greet # 87
Hello,
My name is David Castillo. I am a cradle Catholic, Catholic educated (at least through high school) and I believe still devout Catholic. I am also in the Army and a veteran. During my young adulthood I had "dry spells" overly "sinful" spells and times where I just walked away from the truth in the Churches teachings (even though I still went to Mass regularly) to just follow along with whatever modern society told me. Over the past couple of years though I have had a re-awakening towards my faith and an internal drive and desire to learn more about about the Church (I truly believe it was the Holy Spirit), the truth in which she teaches, strengthen my prayer/spiritual life, become a witness to it, and to give myself to the Lord fully. However, I still have lots of questions and concerns as we struggle with all of the social and moral issues of our day as I feel our Church is being attacked on a constant basis. Which is the primary reason why I have registered for the forums. I love catholic.com and it serves as a phenomenal resource for me in the deepening of my faith. I hope that the more time that I spend on here not only will I learn more and deepen my faith, but maybe I be able to help others as well.

Welcome David!!
Looking forward to having you with us!
Thank you for sharing your journey of faith with us! Happy to learn you decided to turn to the Lord with a renewed and sincere heart.
Catholic Answers will be a huge blessing to you, David, and it will definately help you to grow in knowledge and deeper understanding of our wonderful Catholic Faith.
You are correct about the times we are living in and the Church is under attack indeed. It will get a whole lot worse before it gets better and we Catholics need to be prepared
to share or defend the teachings of the Church when ever necessary. I am sure you will be able to help others here at Catholic Answers and make a few friends along the way, David.
Once again, looking forward to having you with us!
Make yourself at home !!
God Bless You.
Catherine

Re: Meet and Greet # 87
Am here to learn more about how to learn more and grow stronger in my Catholic faith, also looking foward to find a godly and lasting relationship. Thanks.
Tell us a little about yourself.
For newcomers, just click the "Post Reply" button located just above this message. A "post reply" editor will then appear. Type your message and hit the "Submit Reply" button.
Feel free to then wander around and check things out.
Again, thanks for joining us here at Catholic Answers Forums.

........................................
By the way...this is not a question and answer thread so please do not post questions in this thread, as they will generally go unanswered.
This is merely where you introduce yourself to the community.
p.s., Want to start a new conversation ("thread") or ask a question? Here's how it's done: - Find a forum that covers your topic. There's a list on CAF's home page.
- Enter the forum by clicking its name. You'll then see a list of conversations or topics (called "threads" in forum-speak).
- Look for the "New Thread" button at the top of this list. Click it to start your own topic.
- You will then see a standard text editor. Just enter a title and a description of what you want to talk about. Click "submit" and you're all done.
p.p.s, the earlier Meet and Greet #86 is located here.

Re: Meet and Greet # 87
I have been reading on this forum for a while. I am going through something where my faith just seems to be on fire; the more I learn, the more I want to learn. Am thinking seriously of joining a third order. Have met Franciscans, Dominicans, and Carmelites recently..........trying to decide where I would fit in.
