Default What do youu think of my "Home Altar"

I change the arrangement from time to time. It's in my bedroom to the side of my bed. I am hoping to build a kneeler out of 2x4s even though it wouldn't fit in my room.

I love it. I am planning to turn my spare room into more of a prayer room as soon as I can get all the junk out of it! I'm not handy enough to build a kneeler though.

I think it's great!
I bought a full sized wooden kneeler at a garage sale a couple of years ago, it's got the little cubby hole where you can put your prayer books and such. It's not padded though, so it's not real comfy, but I'm sure if I tried I could make it padded if I thought about it long enough.

What saint is that framed in the bottom left hand corner? Pretty amazing altar. I imagine the books are prayerbooks or other spiritual books?

littlenothing,

The frame in the bottom left is a prayer card of servant of God Archbishop Fulton J Sheen with a piece of his vestment attached to the card, I had it mailed to me from the archbishop Fulton Sheen Canonization cause office.

I have heard of several people mention elsewhere that they had a room in their home that was empty of everything except a kneeler. It was the place reserved for God. Noone talked about it. But when a member of the family was upset or wanted to pray, they would use it..

I like it, but it is most certainly NOT an altar. An altar is used for offering sacrifice. Assuming you are not a priest, I would hate to imagine you doing that.

Words are important in this world, correct usage lead to better understanding and better knowledge by all.

We should all have an area dedicated for prayer and reading Holy Scripture set apart from secular affairs.

Thank you for sharing. Your alter is beautiful.

That is so neat! Is it a 2nd class relic, then, because he used it? Or a 3rd because it touched him?
