centering prayer is a method of interior silence. Coming from the Cloud of Unknowing. In teaching centering prayer Father Thomas Keating talks about rest. Resing in the presence of Spirit. He mentions lectio divinia. He talks about ST Athony of the Desert, St John of the Cross the dark night of the soul. and mentions St Teresa of Avila in his teachings of centering prayer.
