Default How does God make His choices?

Hi,

I posted a prayer request asking God to teach us how He makes His choices: http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=678520

I wanted to ask the same question in this philosophy forum. How does God make His choices? How can I understand His way of choosing, and apply it to discerning and performing His will through my actions?

God be with you, with the saints, and the angels,
Joshua

Default Kreeft

According to Peter Kreeft's book "Making sense out of suffering" page 176

God had to risk justice to guarantee love.

Better love and injustice than no love.

So love > justice.

That's why life is unfair.

Excellent question, my friend! Simply stated: Grow in oneness with His Holy Spirit which is the Greatest Commandments.

For more sequential growth, please consider the following concepts:
1. God wants everyone to be able to experience happiness (contentment to intense joy) without ever losing any peace (freedom from disturbance). Therefore, set this as your personal desire.
2. God is perfect at being unconditionally patient and kind, so that His relationships and self may experience happiness without losing any peace. Therefore, set out to master being unconditionally patient and kind so that your relationships and self may experience happiness without losing any peace. Patience and kindness in the face of impatience and meanness is the major growth factor. You will know you are called to a greater level of patience when you perceive distress/disturbance in your relationships and self. You will know you are called to a greater level of kindness when you perceive a lack of happiness in your relationships and self.
3. Find the solution to the following problem:
Given ALL the following:
-You, as a thinking, feeling, acting, living being exist in solitude (Hint: It is best to think of yourself existing as a single-celled being, similar to how you first came to be).
-There is nothing else in existence.
-The only method to create something, living or non-living, is to first think of it in full detail.
-You want to experience limitless happiness without ever losing peace.
How do you make that happen? I recommend first thinking about what are the requirements and the reasoning for those requirements.
