Congress to Vote on Sex-Selection Abortion Ban Next Week

The House of Representatives will consider the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, a bill to ban sex-selection abortions, next week. PRENDA was introduced by pro-life Rep. Trent Franks and was approved by the House Judiciary Committee on February 16.

It is good to spotlight yet another evil of abortion, but as a law it will be useless in actually impacting it. People will simply give another reason for the abortion.

So, it's okay to have an abortion because you don't want the baby, BUT, it's not okay to have an abortion because the baby is an undesirable boy or girl?

Are we in China? Feminism can only result in the destruction of the human race.

Indeed.
I believe it could only be the work of the devil that could make anyone believes this is sound reasoning.

It would a very minor pro life victory.

Prohibiting abortion on the basis of gender might possibly save some baby girls--or boys. At least it might make people think about what they're doing.

Even better would be to have ADA protection of the disabled apply to unborn children. That would prohibit the killing of unborn children solely on the basis of having Down Syndrome, for example.

I can not believe this even has to be voted on, common sense says there should be an automatic ban.

The disappearance of Down's babies is a tragedy in our world.
I am hopeful that that shock of recogniton will occur as women realize that abortion is in a very real sense is an attack on their gender and that this recognition will help those who have not questioned being 'pro-choice' to begin to do so. We know that in China and India, sex selective abortion has been a reality-now we begin to aknowledge that this issue at home.
May many who were once unquestioningly 'pro-choice' begin to ponder the possibility that there might be circumstances in which abortion is just plain wrong.
May our next news flash will describe women protesting that they are feeling pressured by economic forces, boyfriends/spouses who do not want to support additional children, or cultural pressures to limit families to abort their children. When that day comes, may we be able to give them the support they need. Progress is being made. Let us pray that it continue.
Dear Lord, let us all embrace all of human life in all of its stages. Amen.
