Can a member of the SSPX be a Godparent to a Catholic child?
I was wondering what the rules were for Godparents, as we will be having a child soon and a couple of my family members have recently starting following the SSPX, which I know is in the process of coming back into the Church. Therefore, I assume that they would not be able to be our child's Godparents (both my wife and I are Catholic), but wanted to get the rules on this. Also, is there anywhere that outlines why the SSPX left the Church and what the major rift between Catholics and the SSPX is?
