Hi,
I am 30 years old, and mother to a beautiful 3-year old. We are in the process of selling our house and moving to CA so my husband can attend Thomas Aquinas college. I have an Etsy shop, where I sell aprons and hair accessories, including mantillas. I mainly wear hats and snoods currently while I go to mass, but I am looking forward to wearing more mantillas in the future when I move. I love to sew, especially by hand. I am looking forward to meeting other women who love to veil. |

Sorry if my picture is a little large in my last post, I'm trying to figure out how to scale it down...

Hi everyone!
![]() I'm Christina. I was raised Catholic, left the church as a teenager, and am back. I just finished my RCIA and was confirmed at Easter. I have been feeling the call to veil myself. Not just at church but full-time. I wore a headscarf for two days in a row and then spent a day without it and I felt very uncomfortable. I really liked the feel of my headscarf, wrapped snugly around my head. I felt like I was connecting in some way with our Holy Mother, which in turned helped me to connect with God. Without it on, I felt naked, like I wasn't giving my all spiritually. Anyway, I'm going to play around with different head coverings. I only have a square silk scarf I use right now that is pale beige with a pretty Persian print on it but I'd like to get some larger cotton ones in different colors. I'd also like to get a mantilla for church. So happy I found a group that approves of veiling.

Hi
![]() I'm a full-time head coverer. So are my daughters, ages 2 and 5. We are the only ones in our parish who veil, so it's nice to find like-minded ladies! Etsy is a great place for mantillas and other more casual head covers. |

Hi! I'm kind of a newbie to this group. I veil at Mass. Usually with a mantilla, but kinda looking at my other options.

Hello all, I am new around the forum and very excited to be part of a group of understanding women who veil.
I am 23 years old married to my husband in Jan 2012. I am a youth minister at a Catholic Church and also work in the church office. I came across veiling throughout my childhood at mass, but I just figured it was a "little old lady thing" since those were the only people I saw wearing veils. A little over 2 years ago, my then-fiancé (now DH) and I attended Latin Mass out of curiosity and to fulfill an assignment for one of my Theology classes at school (I majored in theology). I looked around and had 2 reactions. 1) I felt out of place and 2) I loved the way these women in veils seemed to exude Grace and Love for the Eucharist. I left the mass and decided I was going to buy a mantilla to wear next time we attended Latin mass. My mantilla sat in my room for about 1 year and I felt a call to wear it once to mass. However, I didn't wear it to my home parish, and would only wear it when I attended mass in a different church. I recently moved and felt a strong call from God to veil at mass. I have been veiling at mass and adoration for about 6 months. The only exception is when I am in my role as youth minister. I have found that wearing a veil when I am at mass with these teens is very distracting for them, so I just focus on dressing and behaving modestly and hope God knows my heart is veiled. So glad to be here! |

) who have really felt being veiled as a 'calling'. I personally think it is a calling to witness true feminism to the world.

![]() When I went to Mass this past Sunday there were two other women who were wearing veils. I tried to catch their eyes to give them reassuring smiles but they never really looked around. I wonder if it's because they felt a little shy wearing their veils. I was wearing a lace shawl as a veil (I really need to buy a mantilla!) and it was pinned to the top of my head, placed a few inches back from my hair line, and the ends were crossed at my neck, like a scarf. I could tell that some people were really receptive to me while others looked confused. lol I love my various veils and I love that when I wear them I feel closer to our Blessed Mother (which is the whole point, after all). Welcome to our group and I hope you find a home here. |

Hi all
I am a lifelong Catholic, I'm from the UK, currently doing my doctorate and I would define myself as a feminist. Liturgically speaking I am tolerant of diversity (the Mass is always the Mass), but I particularly enjoy the experience of attending solemn Mass in the Ordinary Form. To be honest I see very few women covering their heads at the Masses I attend, although when I do see it, it gives me pause for thought. I have been thinking about it again recently and done some research into why some women veil at Mass. It seems that veiling in the Presence of the Most Holy Sacrament is a beautiful and humbling gesture of reverence. Therefore, since I desire to give greater reverence to the Lord who is present in the Eucharist and to imitate the humility of the Virgin Mary, (and also because I know, but am embarrassed to admit, that my hair and whatever accessories I put in it is a source of vanity to me) it seems right that I should start covering my hair at Mass. I think it is God's will as far as I can tell from my prayer but I think I can only know for sure once I try it. (I'm thinking of going with a headscarf, at least at first - I don't think a traditional mantilla would be appropriate for various reasons). Please pray for me... and I will keep you in my prayers too. It's so good to find this group. I think your stories have given me some of the courage I need. Thank you! |

Thank you! I veiled (or more accurately, covered my hair) at Mass the other day for the first time. It just felt so right
Will definitely continue to do so.
