Okay, I am asking this question because over in one of the forums some one was talking about veiling and another person made a comment that I hadn't really thought about but thought I would ask others their opinions.
This person made the comment that wearing a veil and wearing slacks do not work well together. That is not an exact quote but more or less what they said. So, does anyone else veil and wear slacks at the same time? I am a part time dress wearer but also wear pants and want to veil either way. How about anyone else?

That is entirely a personal style opinion. Personally, I don't think they are complimentary. But I do see women wearing pants and chapel veils at my own parish. Most of the time they are wearing skirts or dresses, but sometimes pants as well.
From a purely style perspective, I think that if you are wearing pants, a scarf or hat look better than lace. But covering one's head is not about style, it is about devotion. I'm not into the whole clothes police thing. If you are modest, clean, and respectful, then I think you are fine. ~Liza |

I don't personally wear pants because I've never liked wearing them for some reason, but I see no problem with wearing pants and a veil. I've seen women wearing a chapel veil with jeans or slacks and I thought they looked great. (I think any woman wearing a veil looks great.) The only thing I think would be inappropriate would be if one was dressed immodestly and wearing a veil - like with a miniskirt, or spandex - because then it becomes a fashion statement rather than sign of reverence, but with modest pants I see no problem. Go for it!

I wear dressy yet modest pants/trousers/slacks to Mass, and veil. No one complains about it at all. I just don't veil and wear slacks to EF Masses as most women dress up there at the churches I've attended EF Masses.

Hi!
I usually wear dresses or pencil skirts, I like it more than pants.I have two simple black pants I wear sometimes with a knee-length dress upon. my tie-back scarves fit very well to this , but wouldn´t wear a mantilla with it, I think this belongs to a skirt. But these are only "fashion reasons", in general you will always find a mathing headcover to you favorite stye of clothing if you dress up modest, no matter if you wear pants or skirts. I believe the issue is modest and that is something you need to decide on. I think slacks and covereing is perfectly fine.

It's kind of like wearing a tuxedo and cowboy boots. Sure you can get away with it, but why would you mix the two?
Okay, seriously talking, I don't think it's a sin, just that pants are often (but not always) less modest than dresses or skirts. So if you are trying to be modest, pants can take away the effect. However, if you are wearing the veil for other reasons besides modesty, then it could be done. |

I have personally seen women wearing jeans or slacks and wearing a veil. Like others have said it depends wether they are modest or not. I have at times decided last minute to spend an hour before the Blessed Sacrament and was wearing jeans. My Pirpose for veiling is to show revenue to God in the Sacrament, and I find that as long as I am dressed modestly, I do this by veiling. I will say, however, that yesterday I wore slacks to mass with a white top and my black veil and it seemed to draw extra attention to the veil which made me feel uncomfortable.
Good luck! |

I wear a veil daily so yes, I wear slacks with my various veils. I have silk scarves, long cotton scarves, small cotton squares, lace shawls, and thin scarves. For example, this past weekend my husband and I painted our living room. I wore a small cotton square over my head along with my "painting shirt" and sweatpants. If I am going to cover my head on a daily basis then my head coverings need to be realistic and need to change right along with my outfits.
But like a previous poster said, it's all a matter of personal style. |
