Default Prayer request for my finances

I an self-employed and struggling..widowed 9 years ago with a 16 yr old still at home. My prayer request is for my finances, that my business prosper with new clientel that I may keep my doors open and my roof over our head, the car running and my bills paid. I am on a day to day pay my way. Advertising is very expensive and in the past has not been worth the money I had to spend on it. I rely on word of mouth and integrity of my service. It was my choice to become a cosmetologist at 32 so I could have flexibility in my schedule to be able to raise my family and take care of my husband who I lost to cancer. So there is no telling from one day to the next what my income will be, I just pray for no cancellations when the mortgage is due. May the good Lord provide for us in Jesus name. Amen

If you are not afraid of the limelight, a free talk to various clubs in your area can be a great way to get your name in the local marketplace quickly. The talk establishes you as an expert. People prefer to buy from someone they know. Any good marketing strategy should include ways to let many people know who you are and what you can do for them.

Thank you, that is wonderful and could be very informative. I appreciate your input and I will see where I can have that opportunity.

this being prom season, you might also advertise in local high schools - just a few flyers hung up, or call the office to be put into the daily announcements-for some sort of special. also to your parish for first communion do's! lots of gals would love that!

if prom season is passed for your area, maybe offer summer sessions at your shop- one on skin care, one on 'summer hair care' about effects of chlorine, sun damage, etc...as school gets closer you could hold a parents seminar about -eek- headlice...

really, if you do the footwork and put yourself out there, like the other poster said, you will be considered the expert. people will come back. you don't necessarily need to charge for the seminars, but have product there and poeple will buy. they will book appts to come back. trust me, i would!

Prayers for you and your situation.

Have you tried to piggy back your advertising?
It would cut your cost down by 1/2 or more and depending upon how many partners you use it would allow you to double your advertising exposure at least 50%.

Another thought would be volunteering your talents for some of the women's charity events this time year. They would be greatful for the free support, you would be helping others as well as getting your name/ visibility out in greater numbers with a reputable group. It would be a win - win.

You were wise to make a career choice in the service industry. No matter what the economy is like, women will make getting their hair done a priority. With all the really great posts you could be on to success before you know it! My prayers are with you and your family for health and prosperity.

Have you tried going door to door. I've done it, and it is a great way to just get out there. You'll get a lot of rejection, but it does work and is cheaper than advertising. You'll likely have to get a licence to do so, but they're pretty cheap. You could also offer to hold the equivalent to Tupperware Parties. Wine + women + selling stuff = money.

P.S. I joined Toastmasters two weeks ago. God provides for the birds of the air; however, the birds have to get out of the nest every morning to get those worms!
