As I drove to work this morning, 21 miles - 50 minutes normally, some country lanes some city gridlock, I was tempted to question the parentage of one or two other drivers when the thought came to try praying the rosary as I drove - dismissed initially as potentially distracting, but the feeling persisted until I pulled out my rosary and started to pray - as loudly, and slowly as I liked.
On the country lanes no problem, but once into the city traffic one-handed driving with a gear shifter becomes tricky, so I had to put the beads down and use both hands - I found that I carried on praying with a very clear counter now visible to my mind's eye. apart from the odd idiot trying to put me off - (now forgiven immediately !!) I managed two full rosaries at a leisurely, spiritual pace. It felt highly indulgent being able to use this travel time to positive spiritual effect, and I did not sit on my horn when the bus driver pulled straight out without looking. My stress level normally rises considerably at 'the big junction - next to the Christ the King Catholic church ironically, but not today - I sat there praying out loud, looking exactly the same as others on hands-free.and parked up feeling calm and refreshed - but I hadn't finished the last chaplet !! - So as people were walking by etc.. I took out my mobile and proceeded to pray into it until I had completed the rosary. There is something quite surreal about praying to God on a mobile ?? Traffic ? - what traffic ? |

You're fine as long as you aren't in the habit of closing your eyes while you pray!
I frequently pray the rosary during my morning commute: 30 miles, 45 minutes (most of it is highway.) I pray for the people I'm going to encounter that day--my patients, my colleagues, and those I'm sharing the road with.

[quote=rcurtis555;9238489]Hello all,

My daily commute allows me to get two chaplets in each way, so I try to complete the full rosary if I can - and I count the hail Mary's using my fingers on the steering wheel to apply a little pressure in sequence - it works pretty well, God bless

Hi Bernward,
Hi, I'm new to the forums. But I saw your post and I'm so happy to read what you do because I do that myself. Results have been amazing, not enough words to describe them. Quote:
