Could there be a demon purgatory?
Angels were created good, they were in a kind of probation, just like mankind here on earth, and Lucifer fell and some followed him. Now, Lucifer was thrown down from Heaven with a bunch of his demons and they do much harm to the people and nations and will continue to do so until Judgement Day. According to the notes of the Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible the 1000 years in which Satan's power will be limited have already passed and cover the time of the New Testament.
"[2] Bound him: The power of Satan has been very much limited by the passion of Christ: for a thousand years; that is, for the whole time of the New Testament; but especially from the time of the destruction of Babylon or pagan Rome, till the new efforts of Gog and Magog against the church, towards the end of the world. During which time the souls of the martyrs and saints live and reign with Christ in heaven, in the first resurrection, which is that of the soul to the life of glory; as the second resurrection will be that of the body, at the day of the general judgment."

However, not all the angels that rebelled were thrown down to earth with Satan. There were some who were sent to darkness in chains until Judgement Day.
Jude 1:6
"And the angels who kept not their principality but forsook their own habitation, he has reserved under darkness in everlasting chains, unto the judgment of the great day."
Could these demons be in a demon purgatory or will they on Judgement Day be sent straight to hell with the other angels that rebelled?

Re: Could there be a demon purgatory?
The angelic spirits have a far greater intellect than humans, and therefore they could see at a glance what the outcome of their free will choice would be. Therefore, there is no demon purgatory; those that chose to not serve God chose hell.

Once an angelic being makes a decision to serve or not to serve, the discussion is over, no opportunity to turn around like we have. Even with us our decision making along those lines ends with the end of our earthly lives.

I think part of the problem we have is that we live and think in a linear reality... God is not limited by Time... the angels, all of them, are spiritual beings and thusly also not limited by time... they rejected God's Authority and it is evident, from the passages in Scriptures, that they continue to reject God's Authority... remember the wealthy young man who came to Jesus?... he knew exactly what God demanded of him and he proudly obeyed the letter of the Law... but when Jesus Commanded that he sell what he owned and give to the poor... then follow Him... he had trouble with the "Follow Me" part!
Satan an his minions, as revealed in Scriptures, came face to face with Jesus... they challenged Him, questioned Him, and even negotiated with Him... but they did not Follow Him!

Re: Could there be a demon purgatory?
Well, it definitely does not look good for them. What kind of purgatory would it be if others cannot pray for your sanctification? The odds maybe slim to get out of there even by Judgement Day. Our Lady of Fatima asked us to pray for the poor souls in purgatory because they need our prayers and are suffering. At least humans have the communion of saints praying for their salvation.
I don't think a demon purgatory exists. I have no idea. I wan't there. But, it doesn't look good the that possibility.

It seems even Satan served, when he dinged all of Job's stuff on a contract basis. Angels usually deliver good news (ie the shepherds around Bethlehem) but when God needs to deliver bad news maybe Satan still serves.

Re: Could there be a demon purgatory?
God did NOT order Satan to test Job. God ALLOWED Satan to test/tempt Job, as He allows Satan to tempt all of us. But Satan does it all on his own initiative; it's his fault.
St. Gregory the Great's Moralia on Job has some very good stuff about this.

...just for argument's sake... I was told by Mom that certain death-bed fellow, who had left the Church, asked her not to pray for him nor dedicate the Holy Mass for him... when a soul/spirit rejects God (which includes the Sacraments) there's nothing to be done... other than pray that they may humble themselves to God and submit to the Holy Spirit... interestingly enough, Jesus Himself, during one particular occassion stated that He did not pray for the world but for His Disciples (followers)... Salvation is granted to those who desire to exist in fellowship with God (under God's Authority).

...problem with that is that angels are not supposed to relish man's demise nor use it to challenge God!
