Is horoscopes sinful
Those star signs pages in newspapers? I am not intrested in horoscopes but I have a cousin (lapsed Catholic) who is.
She reads them but always asks me if I want mine read, I refuse though.

Re: Is horoscopes sinful
It's not a sin to read them, but it is to believe in what they say.

I read them occasionally when I read some of those celebrity smut magazines. It's not a sin to read them...however... it IS a sin to put your faith in their pseudo-mystic predictions. It is much better to keep faith in what God has in store for you.
God Bless

Re: Is horoscopes sinful
Playing around with horoscopes is like one is playing with the occult. The wording many seem harmless but that is where the deception occurs. Horoscopes are found everywhere but that doesn't give one permission to read them. It's for that reason, I consider them a sin because one is playing with the devil.

People often say they read them for entertainment only and they don't believe them but that is rubbish. Its putting yourself near an occasion of sin.
CCC 2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
