The Lord is truly working right now to teach me patience and understanding! I am a 33-year old father of two minor children. Their mother filed for divorce and our marriage has been annulled. I have been feeling called to the priesthood, which will require at least 7 more years of discernment before acting. I know that my current Archbishop has historically not accepted applications from divorced men, even with an annulment. So, I must discern my calling, while raising my children from afar, and pray for acceptance.
I'm curious to know if others struggle with any or all of these challenges. If it truly be God's will, I will persevere through any and all obstacles and objections. Michael

May God bless you and your discernment. Two of my seminary brothers are in their later 50s, although they do not have children.

With people like Spirithound and me around, you'll be feeling like you have an early vocation in no time. I'm 54 and going through the early stages now. I dfon't have any kids, but I do have other family obligations that I'm a little worried about leaving to others.
Since this thread is a few months old, I've got to ask, how goes your journey?

I understand that many are not called until later in life and that is awesome that you are willing to accept the call whenever it comes. I still feel called to the clergy, but for now I have to settle for being an altar server every day. One of our local priests likes to refer to me as our very own MC. I help out whenever/ wherever they need(let) me.
