Default Prepping for meltdoen?

Greece is suffering and Spain is close behind as economies collapse. New stories have city dwellers returning to villages where at least they can grow food as there is no work in the cities.
I'm wondering if anyone from Greece or Spain are in this group---and what have they done to prep for this (I hope temporary) challenge?

Is the USA not very far behind?

Good morning, Hovannes,

Interesting post and probably due a complicated answer. I've read enough economic texts to know that I don't know the answer to prevent further economic meltdown globally nor nationally.

Personally, I think bailouts merely delay the inevitable collapse. Because the cause of the world's economic woes are not addressed by bail outs. I think fiat money is a cause. I think the theory that debt produces income is a cause. I think that central banks (Federal Reserve and IMF for example) play a part in causing economic slow downs when they distribute money to other governments instead of paying their own nation's debts..

Just my two bits' worth.

God loves you,
Don

Good points, Don. I'd go farther and suggest it's also related to citizen's individual mindsets. If the majority of the citizens expect "the government" to continue to give them free stuff: 6 week paid vacations, retirement at a young age, free college education, guaranteed jobs...a "taking" mindset, then the problem can not be solved peacefully. And thus we see the demonstrations starting, and violence & riots. People want their free stuff, and there's hell to pay if anyone tries to reform the top-heavy system.

We're seeing shades of this in the USA, too...so if the situation becomes so urgent that Americans stop getting their "stuff", we could see the same response on our streets.
