So are these Catholic dissidents Lutherans or Methodists?

I'd peg them as The Western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism.

They tentatively are calling themselves "Inclusive Catholics."

Quoting from their website:

Quote:
Inclusive Catholics is an evolving movement/community in Melbourne, still in its embryonic development. In late August, 2011 I resigned as a parish priest and began this new venture/ministry.
Quote:
While in no way compromising our Catholic belief in the Eucharist, including the Real Presence, we do not restrict peoples' reception of Holy Communion on the grounds of their worthiness or theology.

Organisationally we are at the stage of establishing an interim leadership group, as together we clarify our Statement of Purpose/Mission Statement, and plan ahead.

I think it interesting that Greg Reynolds (he doesn't use Fr. or Rev.) restates belief in the Real Presence and the centrality of the Eucharist. Yet, surely the person who gave it to the dog isn't up to speed on those ideas. It makes me wonder if he is shocked or dismayed by what happened and if he will try to educate his flock.. Or if he will allow the congregation to come up with different beliefs.

Also of interest, two of the links on the website are to the Archdiocese of Melbourne and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. But there are also links to a variety of reform/dissident groups.

I get the sense that, even though he says he is no longer Catholic, he is trying to keep a connection to the Church.

Nothing about this astounds me. The Australian Press imitates the British Press to a fault, including their sensationalism and rabid anti-Catholicism!
Anything for a headline.....And, like in England, a thoroughly corrupt, atheistic lot.
